SINATRA: FAST FACTS

Frank Sinatra was an iconic figure in American history, yet still much of his life is surprising to those who come to learn more about it. To feed your Sinatra curiosity, below are some fun, fast facts about Sinatra’s life.

Frank never wore the color brown at night. The color offended him greatly after dark. On one occasion Sammy Davis Jr. attended a party at Frank’s house wearing a brown suit. Frank made Sammy go home and change.
In 1937 band leader Harold Arden, upon hiring Frank Sinatra as his singer, told Frank that his name was Italian, too. Frank’s stage name became Frankie Trent. Frank had appeared as Frankie Trent for only 2 weeks when his mother Dolly found out about it. She told Frank ‘Get rid of that name right now. Don’t you ever change your name or your father and I will kick your butt!’

The rat pack actually had a coat of arms emblazoned with the words “Never rat on a rat.” The elaborate insignia featured a rat gnawing on a human hand. Rat Pack members wore the gold rat pins with rubies for eyes.
